Do you still have the original NES cartridge of Final Fantasy? Good. Hold it up to your ear; I think you can hear it talk: “Listen here, kiddo. Back in my day, we didn’t need no fancy three-dee graphics! All them pretty FMV movies you see just rot your brain! It’s like candy! No good fer ya. We had to rough it out, see - it was all about the gameplay! Gunblades and Summon Monsters didn’t mean squat if all ya had was a handful of experience points! Psh, a whole lotta good that’ll do ya. What’s that? Emerald Weapon? I’ll beat him with my cane and one hand tied behind my back! Try the Warmech! Ya darn tootin’ that’s a boss! Now, there’s something that’ll put colour in your cheekbones. And when did everything get so darn expensive??? In my day, 3 gold coins could get you a sword, a phoenix down, an airship, and a good night’s sleep at the inn! You kids should be grateful for everything ya got. We didn’t have no CD-ROM format. If you pushed the power button and all ya got was a grey screen and some funny lookin’ symbols, that meant your cartridge ain’t workin’, boss. Ya had to blow inside the cartridge, ya see. Yeah, just blow in there and make sure all that space dust was gone. Speakin’ of which, why don’t you dust me off and gimme another spin, huh? Whaddya say? Then we can go listen to some real rock, none of this Linkin Park noise…” Plays like: Your father’s Dungeons & Dragons combined with your little brother’s Lego. “It’s the first Final Fantasy, what more needs to be said? Without this game, we wouldn’t be able to enjoy the other plethora of Square games. Period.” |

Official Final Fantasy Dissidia site open - coming to PSP! [UPDATE]
The official site for Final Fantasy Dissidia
has opened today. Tragically, there's very little to it beyond a short
flash intro. "Fantasy is endless", it says. You don't say. Twelve
"Final" Fantasies so far with a decade more to come?
Some might definitely call that endless. Fine by me, I'll take as much
as they can give. As the site says, more information will be revealed
at the Square Enix Party later this month.
The Dissidia flash itself is a bit bare, despite some pretty
Yoshitaka Amano. By checking another part of the Square Enix website
(namely the PSP section of the upcoming games list), we can see Dissidia nestled at the top, confirming our suspicions that it will definitely be coming to our favourite handheld. Check it out and see for yourself!
We'll keep you posted as more information becomes available.
[UPDATE]
The logo art is by Yoshitaka Amano, not Tetsuya Nomura as originally
thought. Nomura will, however, be doing the character art for the game
itself.
[Thanks, Silver Wolfe!]
Final Fantasy Dissidia
Overview of Final Fantasy Dissidia
Final Fantasy Dissidia is a 3D fighting game that's due to come out in
2008 for the Playstation Portable. It has been developed part of the
20th anniversary of Final Fantasy and as such, it will contain
characters from Final Fantasy's amazing past. Many have likened this
game to the previous Ehrgeiz, but so far things seem to be much
different.

Play UK Interview - Kitase and Hashimoto talk XIII and regard the VII Remake Demands
Kitase and Hashimoto have been interviewed by the UK video gaming magazine - PLAY UK on the topic of Final Fantasy XIII. Here is the interview as following on the topic of Final Fantasy XIII and the Fabula Nova Crystallis series. Questions will be in Bold and the Square-Enix Staff Members replies will be in italics. With XII you guys took the franchise into a different direction, do you plan to do this with XIII too? Kitase: Final Fantasy XIII will actually be different to Final Fantasy XII, as well as different from the other Final Fantasy games that have been released. The development staff behind XIII is actually the same staff that was behind Final Fantasy X, but of course they have played Final Fantasy XII and have studied it as well. So maybe taste-wise XIII will be closer to Final Fantasy X, but the active-time battle system which was not in Final Fantasy X, will be going back in XIII. So in that sense it could be more similar to Final Fantasy XII. But it is going to be a more evolved ATB System, so just like the monsters roamed around in Final Fantasy XII the monsters will be roaming the fields and you can actually see and avoid them, but the overall experience will be totally different. How will XIII's spin-offs tie into each other? Hashimoto: Just to clarify, Final Fantasy XIII has three titles so far but we don't consider them as spin-offs as such. But all three titles are based on certain mythology that exists in the game world and each director of each game offers his different interpretation based on that myth. So that it is not a linear sequel or prequel type expansion, it is more like an expanded universe, one based on concepts , and that's how we decided to move with this project. Well how do you decide on which Final Fantasy games to expand upon and which ones to not? Hashimoto: Well the director of the original title, the one at the core, will decide if they want to expand on certain characters because there are a lot of unique characters that appear in the series and the worlds that can be expanded on further. So the director, also based on fan feedback as well, might decide that he will base a certain game on another title and the producer will look at that. Then the business overview will decide whether or not it is financially feasible to produce these sequels. Can you give us any insight to the themes and the characters of XIII? Kitase: What we can disclose right now is what I have heard from Director Motomu Toriyama. The theme is going to involve some kind of ultimate decision and the characters will start in a situation of devastation., and they will be led on a path in which they have to make a decision in order to create hope and a brighter future. That's really all we can say. What are you guys most excited about regarding XIII? Hashimoto: Well, this is an answer more from a more marketing standpoint, but obviously we announced the title for both PlayStation 2 and X-Box 360, so in a sense we're very excited to be able to appeal to a new user base and fans that are users of both PlayStation 3 and X-Box 360. Another thing I'm very excited about is that it has traditionally taken a year for the localisation to take place, so the elements that made the series culturally Japanese? In a sense we began to think that in the games. For now we have come to the conclusion that since the people making the games are born and raised in Japan it is just a natural part of us that come out in the games we make , we're not really conscious about over cultures or markets around the world however after Final Fantasy VII we began to become more conscious of the Western market. So we just go with what comes naturally. You guys have a very vocal fan base, how do you respond to the pressure from these fans - for instance the current call for a Final Fantasy VII Remake? Do you welcome such demands, or do you feel like telling these guys "shut up and let us get on with the game"? Hashimoto: *Laughs* Since the internet has become a common part of our life there have been a lot of comments that are sent to us and people send us petitions even on the things they want to see, and we obviously watch these comments and we receive the messages and we take them into consideration. But of course a lot of the requests are not possible to work on all at once. The Team that's working on Final Fantasy XIII first has to complete that then start working on something different. So the voice of the fans is important and the teams definitely see it, but we want people to understand that we can't work on everything at once to satisfy everyone's needs. ----- Overall, information to the same standards to what they have been releasing and Hashimoto states what I have been seen or heard stating continually. With those statements I really hope that it will get through to people.... eventually.... Also, no new images/artworks/screenshots were shown in the magazine issue - only images from the trailer on the Final Fantasy XIII Official site and some screenshots from the Final Fantasy VII PlayStation 3 Demo video. Also in other news (or as Garland would call "The Paper-clip News") : The Black Mages have had a live concert featuring the remixers/DJs from the Final Fantasy Remix Album and also on stage they had some Final Fantasy cosplayers recreate the Final Fantasy VIII - SeeD Ball Dance and scenes from other Final Fantasies such as the Opera Scene (Final Fantasy VI) and the Play from Final Fantasy VII and the one from Final Fantasy IX whilst the Black Mages performed with intermissions in which the Remixers/DJs took their chances to set up some tracks from the Album which they remixed there in front of the crowd (who had a HUGE line up) , from what I can recognize from photos on the Famitsu website. This may cause a surge for another Live album release of which may feature some additional tracks, to the side of causing more demand for another Black Mages album to come as soon as possible. I am not sure of something for Dissidia though, I have been reading on some Japanese blogs of people who attended the recent Square-Enix Members party and they still read as Ten characters featured - not the nine that Garland had announced in a previous update. I can only conclude to a possible mistranslation / translation error. There might also be another form for either Ultimecia or the Cloud of Darkness due to an image surfacing before being removed online of a female character in a black outfit with somewhat of a v-neck top or dress wearing red-ish lipstick and a purple monster/beast head that somewhat resembles the final Guardian Force known as the "ultimate GF" from Final Fantasy VIII ~ Griever, but also resembles a Behemoth due to the shape and style of the horns. However the outfit shown on the character was that of neither Ultimecia or the Cloud of Darkness leading to either character customization, the Cloud of Darkness changing forms, Ultimecia merging with Griever... or the possible inclusion of another female character in Dissidia. I will be following this up further so this can be taken as a grain of sand for now. Square-Enix have updated the Sigma Harmonics website, they are also featuring a section of their Members Site (Japanese side) to have Sigma Harmonics Members. So far the trailer, concept art and overall designs look great to me. Especially with the theme song for the game "Harmonia Vita" being released early on the artist's album "RIOT GIRL". I've tried mystery / crime mystery type RPGs on the Nintendo DS but they seemed rather monotonous to me however with the 3D system it seems like it's going to be worth waiting for the release and if it's not released outside of Japan, then it's worth the import in my opinion. I also forgot to announce this from the party: In Final Fantasy XIII, there has been a new character introduced that looks similar to Sephiroth. I don't know if it's a female or male character as the character only appeared shortly. And Nomura had also completely confirmed that Final Fantasy Versus XIII will remain a World-Wide PlayStation 3 Exclusive. I have just been making sure that all sources were not mistranslated or mistook say, Siren as a new character for XIII as Siren has already been shown officially. Square-Enix have announced a "Final Fantasy XI Players' Collection" which will feature a limited edition talisman of a sort which is actually of an item from Vana'diel / is an actual item in the Final Fantasy XI world. Which will only be out for a limited amount of time. No idea if they are going with what they have done in the past of "Buy the real item, get the item in the game" concept or not. It was featured on PlayOnline. And that's all I currently have to announce right now, I'll be keeping an eye out for more news. |

Final Fantasy XIII No Longer a PS3 Exclusive
I'm sure some may already have heard, but Final Fantasy XIII is no longer 'exclusively' available for just the Playstation 3. The game is now also available for the Xbox 360. This news came straight from the mouth of Square-Enix president, Yoishi Wada. The announcement came at the end of the Microsoft press conference and was accompanied by a video package for the title. "Releasing an Xbox 360 version of Final Fantasy XIII will allow us to provide the game to even more fans in the two regions of North America and Europe," said Wada. "We are currently working hard on these two versions". In addition, Wada also announced several release dates for other products in the Square-Enix portfolio that will be appearing on Xbox 360. Infinite Undiscovery will launch on September 2, Star Ocean: The Last Hope in early 2009, and The Last Remnant on November 20th worldwide. Personally, I have been holding out on buying the PS3 until FFXIII was released for it. This news sort of side-tracks me though, since I do enjoy the online achievements that the XBOX 360 offers. I will probably still continue to buy the PS3 version, as I really need a Blu Ray player. | |||||||

New Final Fantasy XIII trailer from E3
A new FFXIII trailer from E3 is out.
It features the new girl character, Carbuncle, Siren, Ifrit, as well as
a fair bit of old footage from the previous trailers. The world of
Pulse really looks lush and expansive. Quite nice.
A shocker here, is that FFXIII will hit the US and Europe as a PS3
& XBox360 game, instead of being only PS3 exclusive (but it will
remain this way in Japan)
Trailers can be found at Gametrailers here
Japanese version of the trailer, slightly higher quality. Direct video.

Final Fantasy 13 New
Strong possibility of Final Fantasy 13 Simultaneous Release
It
is now looking more likely that a worldwide simultaneous release might
just happen for Final Fantasy 13 and Final Fantasy Versus 13. The
Square Enix president, Yoichi Wada, has said that he wishes
simultaneous releases of Square Enix games to become the standard.
He added to this by saying the western market is much more
interested in the Japanese style games Square Enix is famous for and
now provides them more business than Japan alone.
Wada now wishes to join together the two stages of creating the Japanese release and then translating it.

Naruto --> Jutsu, Basic, Ranking
In the series of Naruto a jutsu ("Technique" or "Skill" in Japanese)
is a general term referring to any technique a ninja might use that not
any ordinary human could naturally imitate. In some cases the line
between a simple action and a Jutsu is blurred and vague, allowing for
some humor (Uzumaki Naruto: "What? How did you get loose?!" Uchiha
Sasuke: "Rope Untying no Jutsu. It's basic stuff.")
Jutsu are usually the product of channeling chakra to a certain part
or parts of the body (through the inner coil system, which is to chakra
as blood vessels are to blood) and then manipulating it to create an
effect which wouldn't be possible otherwise. If the inner coil system
malfunctions or is blocked in any way, it is impossible to perform any
jutsu at all.
The English version of the Naruto manga has English names for the
attacks, which are often stated with the attacks' Japanese names in
translations starting in 2005. The North American Naruto fanbase
prefers to use the Japanese as of April 2005. In the English TV show, a
different set of attack names is used.
Basic information
Generally speaking, jutsu are
divided into three categories: Taijutsu (Body techniques), Genjutsu
(Mind techniques) and Ninjutsu (Techniques that rely on sources beyond
those). Besides these main categories there is another, more specific
category: Fūin jutsu (Sealing techniques).
Besides being either Ninjutsu, Taijutsu or Genjutsu a jutsu can also be
"Hiden" ( Secret). Hiden jutsu are jutsu passed down from generation to
generation within some clans.
There is technically another category called Kinjutsu (Forbidden
Techniques), but it refers not to the type of the jutsu but to the fact
that it is forbidden to learn or perform it. A technique can be
categorized as kinjutsu if it either causes great harm to the user if
overused, such as Rock Lee's Lotus techniques, or if the techniques are
dark or sinister in nature, such as many of Orochimaru's skills.
There are also Kekkei genkai. These are not really jutsu, but
special, genetically inherited abilities like the ability to copy other
jutsu or to merge your body with other bodies. Kekkei genkai abilities
that work via the user's eye are called Dojutsu (Pupil Techniques).
Some jutsu are based on Kekkei Genkai, like Tsukuyomi.
Ranking
There are seven different ranks in jutsu:
S-rank: Secret: extreme level jutsu
A-rank: Kinjutsu: ultra high level jutsu
B-rank: Jounin level jutsu
C-rank: Chuunin level jutsu
D-rank: Genin level jutsu
E-rank: Academy student level jutsu
No rank: Jutsu relying on the unique abilities of the users (Kekkei genkai, Hiden jutsu)
Final Fantasy XIII demo later this year

According to US magazine EGM, the highly anticipated Final Fantasy XIII is in the pipeline for a demo that’ll hit the PlayStation Network later this year.
EGM explains, "Xbox Live may be the download hotspot this spring (thanks in large part to the Halo 3
multiplayer demo), but late this year the honour will go to the
PlayStation Network. We hear that Square Enix will release a demo of
its highly anticipated role-playing game via Sony's online
marketplace."
Square Enix has yet to comment on whether or not a demo will in
fact hit the PlayStation Network, though, if you care Squenix, we
wouldn’t mind if such an initiative came to fruition.

Naruto on the PS3 this fall!
Namco Bandai has announced CyberConnect2 (the development team behind
the previous Ultimate Ninja games) will be bringing Naruto: Ultimate
Ninja Storm to the PlayStation 3 this fall.
Because of the jump
to the PS3, the game will feature some the most advanced graphics ever
seen in a Naruto game including "fluid animation, incredible visual
detail and an advanced facial expression system." According to Namco
Bandai, the graphics will actually surpass traditional hand-drawn
animation.
Another new feature to be introduced with the move to
the PS3 are new 3D fighting environments for the battles. Each battle
will be one-on-one (with the option of two supporting characters) and
players will be able to pick from 25 Naruto characters. A two-player
Versus mode will also be included. Outside of the fighting, the game
will be a free-roaming sandbox version of the Hidden Leaf Village and
the Forest of Death where players will be able to take on over 100
missions.
"Naruto's PlayStation 3 system debut truly blurs the
line between gaming and animation to deliver the most immersive and
authentic interactive experience the franchise has ever seen," said
Todd Thorson, Director of Marketing and Public Relations with Namco
Bandai Games America, Inc. "Players will marvel at the game's
jaw-dropping graphics, fast-paced 3D fighting and new open-world
exploration as they experience a classic Naruto storyline with all of
their favorite characters and environments."

About Final Fantasy
The first installment of the series premiered in Japan on December 18, 1987. Each subsequent title was numbered and given a unique story. Since the original release, many Final Fantasy games have been localized for markets in North America, Europe, and Australia, on numerous video game consoles, IBM PC compatible computers, and mobile phones. Future installments will appear on seventh generation video game consoles; two upcoming titles for the PlayStation 3 include Final Fantasy XIII and Final Fantasy Versus XIII. As of March 2007, there are 28 games in the franchise.[4] This number includes the main installments from Final Fantasy to Final Fantasy XII, as well as direct sequels and spin-offs. Many of the older titles have been re-released on multiple platforms.
Main series

Final Fantasy was released for the Nintendo Entertainment System in Japan in 1987 and in North America in 1990.[9] The story focuses on the four "Light Warriors" and their elemental orbs, which have been darkened by four Elemental Fiends. Final Fantasy introduced many concepts to the console RPG genre.[5]
Final Fantasy II was originally released on the Famicom in Japan in 1988.[10] The story centers on four youths who join a resistance to end the Emperor's military campaign against the world. Final Fantasy II was the first game to introduce Chocobos and Cid.[5]
Final Fantasy III was released on the Famicom in Japan in 1990.[11] The plot focuses on four orphaned youths who come across a crystal, which grants them power and instructs them to restore balance to the world. It was the first game to implement a Job System, summoning and introduce Moogles.[5]
Final Fantasy IV was released on the Super Nintendo Entertainment System in 1991; in North America, it was released as Final Fantasy II.[12] The story centers on a Dark Knight and his journey to save the world from the evil Golbez.[13] It was the first game to introduce the "Active Time Battle" system.[14]
Final Fantasy V was released on the Super Famicom in Japan in 1992.[15] The story focuses on a wanderer and his allies as they prevent the resurgence of Exdeath. It features an expanded version of the Job System from Final Fantasy III.
Final Fantasy VI was released on the Super Nintendo Entertainment System in 1994,[16] but it was released in North America under the title Final Fantasy III.[16] The plot centers on a group of rebels as they attempt to overthrow an imperial dictatorship. It has more battle customization options than its predecessors, as well as the largest playable cast in the series.
Final Fantasy VII was released on the PlayStation in 1997 and was the first title to be officially released in Europe.[17] The story centers on a group of adventurers as they battle a powerful corporation. Final Fantasy VII was the first game in the series to use 3D computer graphics, which feature fully polygonal characters on pre-rendered backgrounds. This is the first Final Fantasy to have the same number designation in America and Japan since the original game was released.
Final Fantasy VIII was released on the PlayStation in 1999.[18] The plot focuses on a group of young mercenaries who seek to prevent a sorceress from manipulating an international war. It was the first game in the series to consistently use realistically proportioned characters, and feature a vocal piece as its theme music.
Final Fantasy IX was released on the PlayStation in 2000.[19] The story begins with the protagonists attempting to stop a war sparked by an ambitious queen. It returned to the series' roots by revisiting a more traditional Final Fantasy setting.
Final Fantasy X was released on the PlayStation 2 in 2001.[20] The story focuses on the protagonists trying to defeat a rampaging force known as Sin. Final Fantasy X introduced fully three-dimensional areas and voice acting to the series, and it was the first to spawn a direct sequel (Final Fantasy X-2).
Final Fantasy XI was released on the PlayStation 2 and PC in 2002[21], and later on the Xbox 360. The first MMORPG in the series, Final Fantasy XI is set in Vana'diel, where players can experience hundreds of quests and stories. It is also the first game in the series to feature real-time battles instead of random encounters.
Final Fantasy XII was released for the PlayStation 2 in 2006.[22] The game takes place in Ivalice, where the empires of Archadia and Rozarria are waging an endless war. It features a real-time battle system similar to Final Fantasy XI, a "gambit" system that automatically controls the actions of characters, and a "license board" that determines which abilities and equipment the character can use.
Final Fantasy XIII is in development for the PlayStation 3. It will be the flagship installment of the Fabula Nova Crystallis Final Fantasy XIII compilation.

Naruto Information > Summonings
The summoning technique in Naruto requires the user to sign an
ancient scroll in their own blood and end the signature with a
handprint, also in their blood. Multiple characters perform the
Kuchiyose no Jutsu (summoning technique) in the series, each with their
own distinct animal of choice.
Interestingly enough there is an ancient Japanese myth that states:
"The Snake defeats the Frog, the Slug defeats the Snake, the Frog
defeats the Slug." The 3 Senins and their new proteges (Jiraiya is
teaching Naruto, Orochimaru is teaching Sasuke, and Tsunade is teaching
Sakura) can each summon these creatures respectively.
Bees

Standard Bee - The Standard bee used by the Kamizurui
clan. Its stinger is loaded with an exceptionally lethal poison, and it
can be made to carry exploding tags to inflict massive damage on an
enemy. Another common tactic is to have them attack in large numbers,
along with fake bees made from honey, to confuse enemies.
Giant Larva - Similar in appearance to regular bee
larva, only much bigger. Often used in traps by the Kamizurui Clan,
these larvae can drain an enemy's chakra from a distance, making them
hard to attack.
Suzumebachi's Giant Bee - This is a special bee
summoned by Suzumebachi of the Kamizurui Clan. Loaded with a jaw of
razor sharp teeth, a deadly stinger, and wings capable of causing gale
force winds, this insect is a difficult opponent to defeat. It can also
spit massive amounts of honey from its mouth to trap and ensnare its
victims before moving in for the kill.
Birds

Gennou's Giant Bird - This giant bird is summoning of
the Hidden Heat Haze Village ninja Gennou. Since the Heat Haze Village
was destroyed and Gennou is its last surviving ninja, it is unknown
whether or not anyone else has the ability to summon a bird.
Dogs

Dog Pack - This is a pack of about 7 or 8 dogs
summoned by Kakashi during the Zabuza saga and again during the Sasuke
chase. These dogs help Kakashi fight by holding down the enemy to give
him a clear shot. They also help Kakashi track down people. Each dog
wields a cape with Japanese letters that forms a facial expression.
Pakkun - Pakkun is the smallest of the dog pack and
the only one capable of talking. Kakashi summoned him separately from
the dog pack to help Naruto, Sakura and Shikamaru track down Sasuke and
Gaara during the invasion of Konoha. He was the first of the dogs to
track the scent of Sasuke during this chase.
Fish

Piranha Schools - A swarm of tiny, vicious piranha
summoned by the mysterious ninja Ruiga, they appear when he first uses
his Suiton Seibun Houfutsu (Water Cannon Replica) technique to capture
his opponent in a large mass of water drawn from the ground. The
piranha go into the water mass to rip his victim apart. Ruiga can also
move the water masses with the piranha inside to allow the deadly fish
to chase down other prey.
Ruiga's Shark - This is a large, man-eating Great
White Shark summoned by the mysterious ninja Ruiga. He first uses his
Suiton Seibun Seibun Houfutsu (Water Cannon Replica) technique to
create a large mass of water drawn from the ground, then he summons the
shark inside the water mass so he can move the water mass and allow the
hark to chase down its prey. While sharks are usually salt-water
creatures, this one can apparently breath freshwater as well because it
is able to survive in the water mass created from freshwater drawn from
the ground.
Humans

Resurrections - Orochimaru uses a forbidden summoning
technique to resurrect humans. This summoning requires a human
sacrifice for each person resurrected. A spell casted kunai is placed
into the summoned body. This move causes resurrected humans have no
mind of their own; they are completely under the control of the one who
summons them. The only thing left in their minds is the jutsus and
other skills they learned while they were alive. Orochimaru summoned
both the 1st and 2nd Hokage in his fight with the Sarutobi (the 3rd)
and attempted to summon the 4th but Sarutobi stopped his coffin from
opening.
Lizards

Shiromari - Shiromari is a very loyal chameleon summon
with the ability to mold his body into any shape at will. Naruto
encounters him in the shape of a castle which he had been in for fifty
years, acting under the orders of his deceased summoner. He disappeared
after Naruto destroyed his contract scroll.
Monkeys

Enma - Enma is the monkey king and is able to
transform into a large length-altering staff. He was summoned by
Sarutobi during the invasion of Konoha in the epic battle between him
and his former student, Orochimaru.
Pain's Summonings

Pain's Giant Crustacean - Pain summons this creature
during his battle with Jirayai. We only see it for a short time so we
don't know too much about it other than the fact that it has the
ability to make bubbles.
Pain's Giant Chameleon - Pain summons this creature
during his battle with Jirayai. This creature has the ability to blend
in with his surroundings rendering himself naked to the human eye.
Jirayai uses some kind of barrier supposedly made of chakra to find
this creature.
Pain's Giant Dog - Pain summons this creature during
his battle with Jirayai. This creature is a nine headed dog that splits
into nine different dogs whenever it attacks.
Pain's Giant Bird - Pain summons this creature during
his battle with Jirayai. It is not known if this creature has any
special powers as it is only seen for a short time. Like all the other
summons, it shares Pain's Rinnegan eyes and his array of piercing.
Pain's Giant Ram - Pain summons this creature during
his battle with Jirayai. Nothing is known of this creature. Just like
all the other summons it shares Pain's Rinnegan eyes and his array of
piercing.
Pain's Giant Panda - Pain summons this creature during his battle with Jirayai. Pain uses this creature to block one of Jirayai's attacks.
Salamanders

Hanzou's Salamander - This is the personal summon of
the Hanzou and is supposedly made of water. Little is known about this
summon as it is only seen briefly in flashbacks of Jirayia's past, but
it is assumed that it is very powerful.
Slugs

Katsuya - Assumed to be the queen of all slugs,
Katsuya was summoned by Tsunade during the Senin battle. Katsuya has
the ability to split off bits of her own body to form miniature
versions of herself. If she is hit hard enough, she can turn her entire
body into hundreds of miniature versions of herself instantly.
Snakes

3-Headed Snake - This snake, like most of the snakes seen in the series
is gigantic, but is has 3 heads. It was summoned during the attack on Konoha by the multiple sound/sand shinobis.
Manda - Manda is the leader of all snakes and was
summoned by Orochimaru and Kabuto during the senin battle. This seems
to be the only snake-summon able to talk as well as the only one with a
horned head. Manda is extremely bossy and demands that Orochimaru give
him living sacrifices each time he is summoned.
Common Snake - This is Orochimaru's common, unnamed
snake summon. The first common snake was summoned by Orochimaru during
the Chuunin Exams to distract Naruto so there would be no trouble while
Orochimaru gave Sasuke the curse seal.
Snake Hand - This snake summon was used by Anko during the Chuunin exams. A trio of small snakes extends from the users arm and attacks.
Spiders

Kidoumaru's Spider - This large spider was summoned by
the 6-armed Kidoumaru of the Sound Five. It has the ability to summon
its own army of little spiders.
Spirits

Tayuya's Oni- This large blind spirit summoned by
Tuyuya. She plays his flute to tell this blind spirit what to do. This
spirit is composed mostly of Tayuya's chakra.
Toads

Common Frog - This is more or less Jiraiya's helper
frog or possibly his look out frog. It was seen facing the open area
while Jiraiya was peeping at the women in the hot springs. This frog
has no specified name.
Demolisher Frog - This gigantic frog was summoned by
Jiraiya to help defend Konoha during the Sound/Sand invasion and also
made an appearance at the hospital when Jiraiya came to tell Naruto
about the intensive 2 and a half year training he was taking him on.
Gamabunta - Gamabunta is the king of all frogs. He was
summoned by the 4th Hokage to battle the Kyuubi, by Jiraiya when the 3
Senins battled, and by Naruto during his teaching of the Kuchiyose no
Jutsu and battle against Shukaku.
Gamaken - This is another one of Jirayia's toad
summons which he calls upon in the battle with Pain. Gamaken carries a
large shield and staff with a split spiked end.
Gamakichi - Extremely small compared to the other frog
summons, Gamakichi is the son of Gamabunta and was summoned by Naruto
by accident when he attempted to summon Gamabunta during the Shukaku
fight.
Gamatatsu - Gamatatsu is another extremely small frog.
He is the son of Gamabunta and brother of Gamakichi. He was
accidentally summoned by Naruto during the fight with Shukaku and was
also summoned in the first episode of the series. It is safe to say, he
is the dumbest of the frogs summoned.
Toad Sennin - These two toads named Ma and Pa are
advisors to the Elder Toad Sage. They have to ability to combine with
Jiraiya. When they do, Jiraiya becomes much stronger and has the
ability to use the toad's jutsus.
Turtles

Nin Kame - A Normal-sized turtle summoned by Gai, Nin Kame is able to talk and seems to direct Lee when Gai is not around.
Umibouzu

Umibouzu - Amachi summoned this Umibouzu (sea monster)
to help him terrorize the Sea Country. Something more than sea water
and something less than a sentient being, the Umibouzu is a moving
water technique that obeys Amachi's command.
Weasels

Kirikiri Mai - Kirikiri Mai is a weasel-like creature
that is summoned by Temari during the fight with Tayuya. It can fly and
carries a sickle that cuts everything in its path. This creature was
actually taken straight from Japanese mythology.
